David Numark, President
As President and owner of Summit International Flooring, David oversees all sales and profitability. He is also in charge of all mill partnerships and product development.
After graduating from the University of Delaware, David worked for several flooring companies. With his education and the knowledge he gained from his father who was also in the flooring business; he joined BASF Fibers, the originator of solution-dyed products, as a Contract Carpet Consultant in 1984. From there he became Regional Manager for Lotus Carpets, then moving to Commercial Dealer Rep for Lasher Carpet and eventually becoming VP for Corporate Carpet Systems.
He quickly realized it was time to start his own business and opened the doors of Concorde Flooring Systems which quickly became one of the New York area’s premier independent commercial flooring dealers and consultants. During his tenure as President and CEO, he received numerous industry and business awards including the DuPont Antron award and INC. Magazine’s award for one of the 500 fastest growing, privately held companies in the USA.
Some ten years later, he realized that a smaller, boutique approach to the flooring industry would better fit new industry trends, as well as provide him the opportunity to bring more upscale, unique products to his clients. Given his understanding of what end-users and architects want and the ability to balance their wishes with what manufacturers can and do produce, he knew just what type of company was in order. And so, Summit International Flooring was born…
David spends the majority of his time focusing on the company, but he always finds time to play a round of golf with his family or friends. His other hobbies include animals (especially dogs), travel, fantasy football, and the theater.
Marc Becker, National Sales Director
As the head of the SIF sales team, Marc oversees recruiting, training, and assisting sales representatives. In addition, he also works directly with specifying firms in territories where SIF does not currently have representation. In further, he assists in developing relationships with potential suppliers and maintaining relationships with existing supply partners.
Having graduated Towson University with an M.S. in Human Resource Development, he will soon enter his 25th year in the floor covering industry. He started as an agent in the Mid-Atlantic territory for nearly 9 years before moving into a role of sales management. Various positions allowed him to learn about carpet and rugs from both the machine made side and the hand knotted side of the industry. Working at Summit International Flooring coupled that experience with the learning of resilient products, and allows him to be involved in many aspects of the business.
In the few moments when he is not busy with work, and with the kids now grown, he enjoys staying in shape, and riding his motorcycle as often as time allows with the Central Jersey Old Timers MC.
Steve Hand, Operations Manager
Steve manages our warehouse and handles operating the facility on a daily basis. Some such tasks include inventory control, ordering, shipping, tracking, and organizing samples. In addition to overseeing the warehouse, Steve has clients that he has been working with for many years. For these clients, he is part of the entire sales process from the sale to managing the installations.
Steve started working in the carpet field in high school, returned to it after college, and never looked back. He attended Lycoming College (Williamsport, PA) and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. His time as an apprentice taught him the basics and the different sides of the industry. From cutting carpet, pulling job materials, and loading trucks to scheduling installers, handling payroll and union benefits reporting to job estimating and proposals, Steve has done it all in his 35 short years in the industry.
When he’s not working, you can find him spending time with his family. He’s been married to his wife, Cindy for 23 blessed years and has three wonderful children, Sarah, Melissa, and Scott. He also loves to run for fun and to stay in shape. If forced into a race it would be a 5K, however, it is on his bucket list to run a marathon. And while he has promised that he will be working hard for SIF for many years to come, one day in the future he and Cindy hope to retire to the beach where they can put their feet in the sand and enjoy the beauty of the shore.
Jed Horowitz, Vice President
Jed’s role here at Summit International Flooring is coordinating all flooring projects. In addition, he manages sales for some national accounts.
Prior to entering the flooring business, Jed worked in sales for national package goods manufacturers and a partner in an in-store advertising company. He changed careers in 1996 and has been in the flooring business for the last 19 years. He graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing.
Jed is married and has 5 children and two English Bulldogs. He owns and manages multiple rental properties as well as a laundromat. During his time off, Jed likes working on his 1870s home. Most recently he renovated his sunroom which entailed all new sheet rock, painting, a new tile floor and lighting. Now he enjoys spending time and relaxing out there with his family and friends.
Kristin Martin, Brand Manager
Kristin is in charge of SIF’s marketing communications. She oversees the website, blog, social media, email marketing, and press releases to make sure that all communications have one cohesive voice. She also assists in the marketing of any new SIF labeled products.
Kristin’s background is in sales and marketing. She began her career as a Marketing Analyst for New England Financial (a MetLife Company). After a few years she decided to change industries and worked for a popular comedy club/theater, Improv Asylum, in Boston, MA. It was at the theater where she moved into a sales role as Events Manager. Upon moving back to her home state of NJ, she began working for a hotel management company as a Catering Sales Manager for Marriott’s luxury lifestyle brand, Renaissance and eventually Sales Manager for a Marriott select service property. Kristin graduated from Northeastern University where she majored in Organizational Communications with a minor in Business Administration.
Outside of SIF, Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband and 2.5 yr old daughter. They travel often, visiting friends and family up and down the east coast. Kristin also loves planning parties and is the Hospitality Vice President of her local MOMS Club chapter, which supports working and stay-at-home mothers.
Gail Numark, Human Resources/Office Manager
Gail wears many hats here at the home office. She is responsible for HR related projects such as Employee benefits (Healthcare, 401K) and organizing employee events. In addition, she is instrumental in supporting our very active sales team, which includes checking/holding stock, sending samples, as well as planning Lunch & Learns and other A&D firm visits/events. She also manages all accounts payable and receivable. All of this is, in addition to basic office responsibilities, helps to keep SIF running smoothly and efficiently.
Gail is a graduate of Rutgers College where she earned her BS in Business Administration. After college she worked in the healthcare and insurance industry working for companies such as Equitable Insurance Company, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and ADI (Advanced Diagnostics Imaging). After taking some time to raise her two sons, she eventually decided to go back to work at her local school district, first as a substitute teacher, and eventually, being offered a full time position as a teacher’s aide in a Special Education classroom. After 7 years, she decided to change course and go back to an office setting which brought her to SIF.
During her time away from the office, Gail enjoys exercising and reading. She’s also recently taken up golf and loves to spend time on the greens with her friends and her family.
